Location information is an integral part of day to day lives of people around the world. We are trying to identify new ways in which location related information can be used and interpreted by the general public, scientists, business community and governments for betterment of the community. Our main goal is to address issues pertaining to local context such as transportation, pedestrian navigation, health, education, environment and good governance etc. via geo informatics based research solutions. In doing so, navigation models, geo-coding mechanisms, map optimizing, and interoperability related to map services etc. will be explored and improved methodologies will be developed. We acknowledge the strength of open source mapping tools and use them as main technologies wherever possible. Accordingly, our main themes of research are (a) Navigation support systems (b) geo-stamped scientific data collection via volunteer geographic systems (c) geo-coding methodologies (d) Humanitarian GIS.
